There are many options out there on the market when it comes to choosing a concrete sealer. Sealers come in many different formulas ranging from water based to oil based and others enhanced with silanes and siloxanes to protect from salt products that come with de-icing chemicals in cold weather climates. Most all concrete sealer will provide moisture and water protection, stain protection, and frost and thaw protection in cold weather. Another benefit of using a concrete sealer is the added appearance it can provide to any home or property. Some concrete sealers come in a non glossy formula so you do not even notice it while others can give a beautiful glossy look. Some concrete sealers are offered in a tone or color for a really unique look. You can imagine how coloring your driveway would give the outside of your home a whole new appearance at the same time giving the concrete adequate protection from the elements. For a colored concrete sealer, it may be best to see pictures or at least a color swatch before making a decision. It is also worth noting that some colored concrete sealer products will change tones when going from being shaded to being in full sun. A reddish color concrete sealer may look almost pink in full sun, so be sure you consult with the concrete contractor or paint store where you are purchasing the sealer from before making a decision. Concrete sealer is a terrific investment none the less as it can add many years of life expectancy to any concrete surface.
