A Lesson About Cedar House Siding and Restoration Services in Michigan

When we moved from out West to the state of Michigan, we bought a very beautiful home in a wooded lot. The house was a big two story home with everything we were used to except for the siding. It was cedar house siding and was very attractive. We did not think much of it and moved into the home the following month. A couple of summers later we noticed the cedar siding turning black in some areas where it was shaded most of the time. In the sunny areas it looked like some of the stain had faded a bit and did not match the rest of the house. Along some of the siding were little cracks and gaps here and there. It looked like there was some old caulking of some sort in the cracks at one time. So we called a cedar house restoration Michigan company to come out and take a look at what we were seeing. The acted like it was no big deal as it was something that they dealt with on a regular basis. Come to find out, we were not aware that cedar house siding needed to be cleaned and re-stained every few years and actually the company that we called had stained the house several years ago but said that the previous homeowners must have let it go for 8 or 9 years since then. So we hired the cedar house restoration Michigan company to clean and stain the house again. They did a very nice job and now we are well aware of the maintenance that comes with cedar siding on houses.
