The Wedding Speech Says it All

Most of us do not spend our time writing and giving speeches. Just like the President of the United States, the president of a business or college, or another position where you have someone else writing your speeches for you, you might need some help when it’s time to write a wedding speech. Writing the speech is the first obstacle to overcome, being able to speak it is the other. Unless you become a professional wedding speech giver, you won’t be doing this on a regular basis. Isn’t that a relief?

More than likely, the wedding speech you need to give is for a loved. Probably a son or a daughter, perhaps a mother or a father. You want it to be special, you want it to be personal, and you need it to be real. You can choose the tone you want to set with it; funny, inspirational, maybe you want to give some helpful advice, but you also need to let people know how you feel about the bride and the groom. What about them will inspire you to write the speech? Many people who must deliver this kind of speech are blessing the couple as they embark on a new beginning in life. You want to convey this with your words and you want the bride and groom to carry a piece of your speech in their hearts throughout the years of their marriage.

Whatever you choose to say in your wedding speech will be traditionally toasted as you close. Don’t leave the bride with tears in her eyes. This is her wedding day and even if you are the father of the bride, you want to see your baby girl smiling. Practice your speech, say it to yourself in the mirror, ask others to critique it. Not because you need to give it perfectly, but because you need to be able hold in your emotions if necessary. Many times a father’s wedding speech is a sort of goodbye to his daughter, just as the groom’s parents will do the same for their son. If your mother or father is entering into a new marriage, you are aiding them into closing a chapter in their lives.

What you say on this day is important. The bride and groom will remember it, and so will you.
