Reasons To Use A Water Repellent Concrete Sealer

There are many good reasons for using a penetrating Silane/Siloxane concrete water repellent sealer. The siloxane based concrete sealers penetrate into the substrate and acrylics, silicone and epoxy concrete sealer products do not.The siloxane bonds to the microscopic pores that are inside and located below the concretes surface. This is what keeps the liquid or water from entering and the sealer will go in deep enough, that it creates a barrier that UV rays cannot penetrate through either. Penetrating below the surface of the concrete means that all those high traffic areas, such as sidewalks and industrial driveways will not lose their protection due to overuse. Unlike a surface sealer which remains on the top of the substrate and is eroded down after many uses. The substrate will keep its natural texture and sheen and you will not see a high gloss finish also. Filling the pores of the concrete will also stop any efflorescence from occurring that is caused by water vapor issues. Stopping the water from getting in, will greatly reduce the staining of the white colored natural salts. By allowing the water vapor to escape, the silane/siloxane sealer will not trap in any moisture that may cause the concrete to scale or spall. Any concrete that is subject to water freezing on it, is also subject to that water’s volume increasing and causing it to weaken and breaking. Concrete that is not sealed and has de-icing salts applied to it regularly causes it to freeze and thaw more than normal. Applying a silane/siloxane concrete coating sealer of a good quality can help combat all issues with high traffic concrete.
