Carpet Cleaning for Different Stains

July 1st, 2010 by admin

Carpet cleaning can be a chore for a lot of homemakers who have opted to use carpets to make their houses cozier and more luxurious-looking.  What makes carpet cleaning a more challenging task is the fact that there are different kinds of stains that can damage carpets and not all stains can be effectively removed using one solution only.  Indianapolis carpet cleaning professionals know that different stains require procedures that are a bit different from one another.  Take a look at some of these stains and how to remove them.

Carpet cleaning for carpets stained by crayons, tar and other oil-based stains:•    The cleaning solution one should use when having these stains is a dry cleaning solvent that is non-oily and non-caustic.  Apply this solvent to a terrycloth or white cotton towel.  Do not rub the stain with the towel.  Instead, just blot all of the stain into the towel.  Repeat the procedure until no stain remains visible in the carpet.•    Use clean, warm water to rinse the spot and blot again until any stain residue can’t be seen on the white towel.•    Sprinkle clean, warm water onto the stain and blot again with a new white terrycloth or cotton towel.  Repeat procedure until any visible stain in the carpet can’t be seen anymore.

Carpet cleaning can also be a big headache especially if babies and pets are unable to contain their bodily functions.  Thus, to clean any stains containing feces, vomit or urine, here is the procedure:•    Any visible solid or liquid must be immediately removed from the carpet.  If there are no more visible solid particles in the carpet, blot excess liquid using a white paper towel.  Do not wipe or rub the stain, as the stain will spread.•    Make a solution by mixing a cup of water to a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid.  Blot as much of the stain with the solution on a damp terrycloth or cotton towel.  Repeat until no visible stain can be seen.•    Apply onto stain undiluted household ammonia using a different white cotton or terrycloth towel.•    Apply undiluted white vinegar onto the spot using yet another white towel.•    When the stain does not show any visible signs or smells already, rinse spot with warm water using a damp sponge.  Blot with a folded white towel.

Should the job prove to be too big for you, Indianapolis cleaning services are just a phone call away.
